CEEDS School Readiness Program at Nutrimind, Tripunithura
Helping Every Child Get Ready for School, at Their Own Pace
No two children grow the same way. Some need a little extra support before they step into a classroom, and that is exactly who our School Readiness Program is for.
The program is for children aged 3.5 to 9.5 years, divided into three age groups. Each group has goals built around the needs of that stage. Every day combines three things:
Therapy support
Pre-academic and academic learning
Activities of Daily Living (ADL): eating, dressing, toileting, following routines and other everyday skills
Together, these prepare your child for mainstream school in a complete, well-rounded way.
The program was designed by Ms. Minna Mathew, RCI-recognised Clinical Psychologist and co-founder of Nutrimind, who has worked with children for over 17 years. She believes every child deserves a fair chance at education. That belief shaped every part of this program.
We keep the process clear, simple and collaborative, with your child's needs at the centre.
Step 1: First Conversation & Screening
A short discussion about your concerns, your child's needs, and how the program can help.
Step 2: Detailed Assessment
Based on what you share and our first observations, our therapists may do a full assessment. It looks at your child's developmental age, strengths, challenges and needs.
Step 3: Program Recommendation
We suggest the right program level for your child. If your child is already school-ready, we will tell you. If they only need short-term group therapy alongside regular school, we will tell you that too. Either way, we plan the next steps with you.
Step 4: Orientation & Getting Started
We set goals together and your child begins their journey at Nutrimind.
Step 5: Progress Reviews & Moving to School
We review progress every month or quarter and plan the next steps with you. Depending on progress, we either help your child move smoothly into school or recommend the next program level. We keep setting individual goals until your child is confidently ready for school.
Our Team and Centre
Multidisciplinary team: Qualified Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Behaviour Therapists,Special Educators and Montessori-trained teachers
Learning spaces: Small-group classrooms that follow real school routines
Therapy rooms: Rooms set up for sensory, communication and motor-skill needs
This is the starting point. Here, children learn to feel safe, settled and comfortable in a group. Through play, gentle routines and guided interaction, we build early social, emotional and daily-living skills.
What we work on:
Sitting in a group and following simple instructions
Guided play for motor skills and playing together
Language activities for early communication and social interaction
Sensory integration therapy for sensory regulation
Early concepts like shapes, colours, sorting and matching
Taking turns and sharing
Simple daily tasks like washing hands and carrying and packing a bag
Starting toilet training and eating independently
Individual therapy based on each child's needs
At Nutri Seeds, every small step is celebrated, building confidence, communication and early social skills. Parents get regular updates and easy ideas to carry routines from the centre into home.
Here, children are gently prepared for the social and academic demands of school. We help them manage emotions, work as a team, follow routines and become more independent.
What we work on:
Handling anger, frustration and transitions
Following timetables and finishing tasks
Classroom habits like listening, paying attention and asking for help
Group activities that build communication, friendship and teamwork
Specialised learning tools that support thinking skills
Early academics like number concepts and pre-reading
Self-help skills like tying shoelaces, eating independently, toileting and basic hygiene
Individual therapy planned together with parents and caregivers
This is the stage where curiosity and creativity grow. Emotional regulation and social skills take centre stage, alongside building thinking skills. We keep parents updated and share simple ways to keep home routines in line with school-style expectations.
This stage is about independence. We use tailored strategies to build problem-solving, social understanding and confidence with schoolwork. Children learn to cope academically, socially and emotionally in a structured setting.
What we work on:
Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for reading, writing and numbers
Emotional self-regulation and resilience
Sharing ideas and expressing feelings confidently in a group
Group work for peer learning, cooperation and turn-taking
Time management and finishing tasks
Social communication
Executive skills like memory, attention, planning and flexible thinking
Life skills like organising a school bag and basic money concepts
Individual therapy based on each child's developmental and functional needs
The aim here is greater independence and a smooth move into school. We work with parents to help children use their new skills everywhere: in therapy, in the classroom and in everyday life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the School Readiness Program for?
Children aged 3.5 to 9.5 years who need extra support with communication, behaviour, sensory needs, learning or daily-living skills before joining or returning to mainstream school.
How do I know which group suits my child?
We start with a screening and, if needed, a detailed assessment. Our team then recommends the right level based on your child's needs, not just their age.
Will my child also get individual therapy?
Yes. Along with group learning, each child gets individual therapy (speech, occupational, behaviour or special education) based on their goals.
How involved will I be as a parent?
Very involved. You'll get regular updates, take part in goal reviews, and receive home strategies to support your child's progress.
